Alphabet Inc’s Google announced that it will update its “gambling and games policy” to facilitate online casino advertising by operators which comply with Google’s advertising policies.
The four U.S. states that currently permit intrastate online gambling are Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Online casino operators in these states will be able to run ads via Google Ads, Google Display Network, YouTube and AdMob, but not on Gmail ads, Shopping ads, Reservation display ads or Consumer ratings annotations. Advertisers must first apply for certification.
As well as ad disapproval, ad-policy violators may have their accounts suspended if they have “several violations or a serious violation”.
As more states legalize online gambling in the USA, no doubt Google will follow suit, enabling casino marketers to leverage Google Ads.
